News of events coming up…Rumpus, in the garden and Paris!

We’re taking the salons to gay Paris!

In addition to our drawing salons coming up at Cass Art, we’re really excited to be able to share news of some ventures outside into new contexts for the salons this summer.

First up…we’re appearing at a party where they share our love of dressing up!
RUMPUS 1st BIRTHDAY PARTY EXTRAVAGANZA

Friday 10 June @ Electroworks, Islington (where we had Knot for Profit),10pm-11pm (event ends at 6am, we’re on at the start)

We’ll be running a pop up salon at the beginning of the night! Come along where the wild things are and dip into our dressing up box as partygoers are invited to become models and draw each other as part of this jam packed line up. Check out their immense line up! As well as us early on, there’ll be six rooms crammed with eclectic globetrotting beats, from Balkan and bass to electro-swing and dubstep, live gypstep bands, a cinema, an exhibition and a list of cabaret acts as long as your arm. Highlights include Alejandro Toledo & The Magic Tombolinos, Des O’Connor, Dutty Moonshine and barn-dancers The Cut A Shine Ceilidh and a kazoo orchestra!

And then, we’re doing our first OUTSIDE SALON as Art Macabre Drawing Salons goes feral to present
DEATH IN THE GARDEN @ URBAN PHYSIC GARDEN, BANKSIDE
SATURDAY 25 JUNE, 1-3pm, free drop in workshop

We’re thrilled to death to be part of a packed programme of events and workshops animating this fantastic, volunteer-built garden of medical plants. The Urban Physic Garden opens this weekend and then on 25 June we’re running a free drop in, family friendly version of the salons throughout the garden. It’ll still be as creepy and atmospheric as ever, though, do not fear!

Flesh and bone, medicine and magic, life and death. Come and sketch the most poisonous of plants and the scariest of scarecrows as Art Macabre Drawing Salons venture outside into the garden. ith us.

Explore the deadly powers of plants featured in the garden through art, as costumed curious characters such as ‘Wild Cherry’ and ‘Bella Donna’ bring to life the toxic tales of the plants and herbs they are posing as. Hunt for bones hidden throughout the garden. Create your own observational life drawings to take home or take part in a collaborative art work that will develop throughout the day.

AND FINALLY…PARISPARISPARIS!
SUN3 JULY @ Le Comptoir General, Paris
Art Macabre Drawing Salons goes international! We’re taking part in the first ever LADYFEST PARIS.

In collaboration with our friends at VV collective, we’ll be running an extra special salon as part of the Ladyfest Paris art expo.
More details to follow soon but we simply can’t wait to be part of this festival and share our unique take on drawing with some lovely French feminists! If you fancy a trip to Paris, why not come along on Sunday 3 July to our workshop where we’ll be exploring the theme of ‘The Body/Le Corps(e)’ at the amazing new artspace venue Le Comptoir General. With its cabinets of curiousities we think we’ll feel at home!

Phew, that’s all for now! More details to follow.
And if we don’t see you at Rumpus on Friday, see you all at Kiss of Death @ Cass on Tuesday- GET YOUR TICKETS if you haven’t already for film noir vintage gorey glamour…

Kisses of death to you all
