“I used to think I was the strangest person in the world but then I thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do. I would imagine her, and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me too. Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know that, yes, it’s true I’m here, and I’m just as strange as you.”
― FRIDA KAHLO
We celebrate Frida Kahlo on Tuesday 15 July, celebrating 60 years since the iconic artist died. We explore her legacy, the PAIN, PLEASURE AND DEATH of her imagery, self-portraits and diary entries.

We’ll have not one, but 3 ‘Fridas’ posing nude and costumed for you to capture in your drawings and paintings, representing and inspired by her art work and the different sides of her character.
We’ll celebrate the bright and strong, bold and inspiring Mexican spirit of Frida Kahlo….
Along with exploring the darker, painful and macabre sides of her artistic visions and life. Here are some quotes to get you in the mood…
“pain, pleasure and death are no more than a process for existence. The revolutionary struggle in this process is a doorway open to intelligence”
“I don’t paint dreams or nightmares, I paint my own reality.”
“I paint flowers so they will not die.”
“Nothing is absolute. Everything changes, everything moves, everything revolves, everything flies and goes away.”
