ALFRESCO LIFE DRAWING ADVENTURE
FEATURING BROOKLYN SANCHEZ! FRIDAY 14 AUGUST, 7PM – 9.30PM
@ SHIPWRECK COVE (sponsored by John Payne) at THE CONSERVATOIRE SE3
A collaboration with The Conservatoire! Josephine Baker sashayed onto a Paris stage during the 1920s with a comic, sensual appeal that took Europe and then the world by storm. Taking her final bow 40 years ago, the impact and legend of the woman nicknamed the ‘Black Venus’ lives on to this day. Famous for barely-there dresses, bold dance routines and exotic beauty that broke boundaries, the Creole Goddess activist and her cheetah Chiquita captivated imaginations and inspire artists to this day…
Leicester born Brooklyn is a London based dancer/choreographer and neo-burlesque performer. Her performances bring an element of culture and rawness to them without sparing the elegance and grace you can expect from any burlesque act.
Brooklyn will perform her unique dance routine and then a series of classic poses, channeling the spirit of Josephine. She’ll pay tribute to the legendary banana-skirt dance, with a distinctly 21st century flavour. Choreographed by Rubyyy Jones, in collaboration with Brooklyn, with costumes and headdresses designed by Lydia Cawson aka Prince Lydia.
Sketch outside on the sandy beach venue to a jazz soundtrack, with tropical cocktails available from the bar! Wet weather contingency in case the sun isn’t shining!
